Naomi Broady advances to her first WTA semi-final!

The talk this weekend is all about the Davis Cup tie between Great Britain and Australia however Naomi Broady ranked at 157 on the WTA rankings and is Britain’s number three has made it through to the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Quebec City in Canada after a 3-6 7-5 6-3 win against Anna Tatishvili

Naomi’s week looked like it ended in the second round of qualifying for the tournament however with Klara Koukalova withdrawing from the tournament she received a lucky loser place into the tournament and three wins later is in her first WTA semi-final on the tour and is a win away from making the final which would be an amazing achievement.

No matter what happens from now on in Naomi has already risen about 30 places in the rankings and faces a tough opponent in the semi-finals in Jelena Ostapenko who played well at the US Open recently and reached a career high ranking of 101 in last weeks rankings and is guaranteed a top 100 spot next year. If Naomi plays her game like we know she can she does have a great chance of making the final which will either be against Mirijana Lucic-Baroni or Annika Beck / Lucie Hradecka.
