Venus Williams will finish 2015 ranked inside the top 10 in the world at number 7 after her title win in Zhuhai at the WTA Elite Trophy to pick up her third title of the year and finish the year with 41 wins on tour.
2015 has been such an incredible win for Venus and there couldn’t have been a much more deserved winner of the tournament than Venus. What she has achieved this season shows her continued dedication to the sport and to finish the year at number seven in the world is totally deserved. Sometimes I don’t think ranking reflects a player’s form but Venus’ ranking reflects on a brilliant season for the 35 year old.
At 35 and to be still fighting at the highest level in tennis she deserves more credit than she gets. It’s the first time since 2011 that she is in the top 10 in the world and has recorded 7 top 10 wins this season her most since 2008 on the tour.
Here’s hopefully to another successful year in 2016 when you’d expect Venus and Serena to team up for the Olympics once again and most likely for the final time!
