Australia’s new Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt has named his first Davis Cup squad as captain as his Australian side are set to take on the USA in round one of the World Group in what is an important tie for both sides! So who has Lleyton picked?
Nick Kyrgios
Bernard Tomic
Sam Groth
John Peers
Nick may not be the highest ranked Australian but he is the star of the show. He had an exceptional week in Marseille and continues to improve and impress week in week out. There is no place for Thanasi Kokkinakis in the side he has fallen outside the top 100 in the world and has had an injury problem this year!
Finally! John Peers is finally in the Davis Cup team! It’s been a long time coming and I said time and time again last season where is he? Especially when Australia came up Great Britain and John’s doubles partner at the time Jamie Murray was in the opposition squad! John is the youngest ranked doubles player in the top 14 in the world and I can’t see it being too long until he lifts his first Grand Slam title after being in two previous finals both with Jamie Murray last year!
