Mladenovic and Garcia win Roland Garros doubles title!

Records continue to be broken at this year’s Roland Garros with Kristina Mladenovic and Caroline Garcia ending France’ wait for a french duo to win the women’s doubles at Roland Garros for the first time since 1971 a 45 year wait.

The champions back in 1971 were Gail Chanfreau and Francoise Durr and since then many have tried but the young French duo who have also been a pivotal part of France getting to the Fed Cup final were exceptional once again winning their fourth title of the year and their biggest of their career.

The whole match was intense from start to finish with such an incredible high level from both teams and credit to Vesnina and Makarova who also played an incredible match but were just beaten to it at the final hurdle as Mladenovic/Garcia broke at 4-4 to lead 5-4 and had no worries serving it out for the biggest title of their careers.

Watch out Rio, these two will be big contenders at the Olympics this summer!
