Olympic Tennis So Far… Doubles Dream Over, Del Potro and that point from Gavrilova!

Tennis at the Olympics is always about taking chances and for some the chance is over but for others the Olympic torch is still lit.

Serena Williams, Andy + Jamie Murray, Venus Williams, Novak Djokovic and of course the man of the moment Juan Martin Del Potro have all made the headlines but were going to start with Daria Gavrilova…

Take a bow!

Daria Gavrilova is a player who never gives and in defeat to Serena Williams in round one she will have walked away slightly disappointed but can hold her head up high after an excellent effort against the world number one and this was simply sensational!!!

Doubles dream over

Well for Jamie and Andy and Serena and Venus the Olympic Gold doubles dream comes to an end. For the first time in 12 matches Venus and Serena lost an Olympic doubles match to Lucie Safarova and Barbora Strycova representing the Czech Republic

For Andy and Jamie they fell to Thomaz Bellucci and Andre Sa representing host Nationa Brazil in an epic two set match both of which decided by thrilling tie-breaks.

The doubles dream is over but the singles is still on course for Andy and Serena who are favourites to win the Gold medal once again.

The man of the moment!

Juan Martin Del Potro has a thing for upsetting Novak Djokovic as he pipped him to the Bronze medal in 2012 and this time the Argentine has taken out the Serbian once again but this time in the first round of the tournament as he took just two sets with that firing forehand to take out the world number one who left the court in tears!
