She’s been missed!
Unfortunately we don’t know what happens next after Indian Wells. As the custody battle is still on-going she cannot leave California with her son Leo and is understandably not willing to travel the tour without him.
British number two Heather Watson will be the first to face Azarenka who despite her absence from the tour has been practicing and training hard to compete regularly again and is determined as ever to be successful on the tour.
Heather Watson is in good form at the moment after a good week in Acapulco where she won the doubles title with Tatjana Maria but has suffered a dip in singles of late ranked at 70 in the world and has a win/loss record of 7/6 failing to build momentum this year.
As with Serena’s match the crowd will come and they will be waiting for see the two time former champion Victoria Azarenka in action. I do think Vika stands a good chance despite not playing competitive tennis since Wimbledon she has the tools in her game and knows Indian Wells like the back of her hand and despite wanting to see the British players do well I fancy Vika to take this one on her much anticipated tour return.
