Former world number one Serena Williams is at Roland Garros. The American who was a guest alongside her husband Alexis at the Royal Wedding in London has made a quick trip to Paris on the Sunday as she is set to appear in her first Grand Slam since she won the Australian Open last year.
Her coach Patrick Mouratoglou at the end of April had posted on social media that she had joined him to continue her clay court training and has been there since.
In an interview he gave to the WTA website just over a week ago he confirmed her participation in Roland Garros and Serena has been spotted practicing on Chatrier.
The interview was open and honest.
He said Serena is playing Roland Garros to win it and after being her coach for 6 years he believes it.
When she arrived in Nice at the academy they knew then her body was not ready for Madrid or Rome.
Serena made her tour return earlier on in the year at Indian Wells and Miami and Patrick admitted that the return to the tour came too soon for the former world number one but gave her that match feeling and importantly what needs to be worked on and put together a programme for her.
Serena has never backed down from a challenge and if anyone can, Serena can!
