Andy Murray has played, completed and won his first hard court match since he played against Vasek Pospisil at Indian Wells last year and lost in the second round so hadn’t won a hard match since 4th of March when he defeated Verdasco in the the final of Dubai.
The performance is something that shouldn’t even be looked at. It be fair to start looking at performances and what needs improving in the coming weeks once he’s done in Washington, Cincinnati and Toronto before he heads to New York and is something I will look at.
On a whole he did look sharp, he moved well but did become thrown back and unable to react at times by the power that McDonald played with on the forehand.
Murray’s goal over the coming weeks will be to look at finding more depth on the wings and then movement will improve with matches.
A meeting with a Kyle Edmund once again!
