Back in Business! Serena brutal in disposal of Gavrilova!

Just over a week after the worst defeat of her career the former world number one Serena Williams took the decision to withdraw from Rogers Cup in Montreal citing personal reasons.

Serena who has been very open and honest with her recovery since giving birth and how she has been feeling posted on social media days after her defeat.

Serena said she felt different emotions like she was not a good mum or doing enough for her child and her opening up like this is refreshing because she is opening minds.

Hundreds of women will feel the same and will go through these postnatal issues so to have a voice like Serena talking through her experience is fantastic for women but also for us men who maybe don’t know too much about the challenges post childbirth women face it’s like an education and a realisation of how much women go through so big respect to Serena and mums out there!

Serena responded to defeat as only Serena can putting on a absolutely brutal performance against Australian Daria Gavrilova to extend her winning run in Cincinnati to 11 matches.

The performance was simply stunning, the way she moved and struck the ball if we think back to when she returned to the tour at Indian Wells / Miami in March her tennis is miles better.

Next up for Serena is a match against Petra Kvitova. The Czech number one has not really been at it since her win in Birmingham where I watched her play some incredible tennis lifting the title and was favourite going into Wimbledon but ended up being a first round casualty.
