Since Wimbledon the world number one Simona Halep has been busy.
Following making the final in Montreal just over a week ago she has followed it up by making the final in Cincinnati.
Usually for a top player the week before a Grand Slam begins the plan is to get on site early and practice there instead Halep is on route to New Haven.
Connecticut Open begins today and Halep has been on the entrants list for quite a while with many expecting her to withdraw but she announced she will be there.
Likewise for Petra Kvitova and Karolina Pliskova when many would expect them to arrive on site at Flushing Meadows early.
All three players must feel they would have something to build on before they get going a week Monday or Tuesday in New York.
