Sharapova calls time, Tsonga and Lisicki return, Murray arrives in Shenzhen & Mohamed Lahyani suspended!

Sharapova calls time on season

A season of disappointment for Maria who has appeared in just 11 tournaments in almost 9 months on the tour this year and has withdrawn from her remaining tournaments this year and has called time on her year to recover. Were not too sure what the recovery is for as she hasn’t looked injured and even after this announcement posted videos to social media of an intense workout.

Welcome back!

A good sight for tennis fans.

Much loved Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Sabine Lisicki both who are former major finalists made their return to the tour this year. Jo played defending champion Gojowcjk in Metz and lost in three sets and Sabine was in action in Wuhan qualifying where she lost to Golubic.

The main thing is both are back on the court!

Murray arrives in Shenzhen!

We have seen on social media over the last few days that Andy Murray has arrived in Shenzhen with his coaching team and the team at Shenzhen have confirmed he will play.

The tournament begins on Monday and we will not know his draw until Sunday.

Mohamed Lahyani suspended

Following the pep talk to Nick Kyrgios at the US Open the ATP have decided to suspend Mohamed Lahyani for two tournaments and have reminded him of his responsibilities as an umpire.

This does come as a surprise as the Grand Slams are not under ATP or WTA ruling but ITF ruling who decided not to do anything themselves likewise the USTA.

The ATP have done what the ITF should have done but the ITF were also hesitant to get involved in the Carlos Ramos/Serena Williams issue until around 48 hours later.
