The ITF have been hit.
In Shanghai the top men on the tour have been quizzed on potentially playing a full week of Davis Cup tennis after the World Tour Finals.
Alex Zverev has been the most public on the tour at the moment and has completely ruled out finishing his season with the Davis Cup after a long season and will be ‘tired’.
Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer were also in the line of questioning over Davis Cup.
The Serb said that he will consult his team but between Davis Cup in November and World Team Cup in January time ahead of the new season (which is an ATP event with points on offer) he would prioritise this one and that the dates for Davis Cup are really bad.
Roger Federer likewise has all but ruled himself out saying it wasn’t built for him but for the younger generation and he highly doubts that he will participate.
This does not do the Davis Cup or the ITF good as they look to attract the top players but seem to have done the exact opposite…
