Well, what a day!
Singapore’s most experienced players Caroline Wozniacki and Petra Kvitova have a fight on their hands as they look to try and stay in the competition following straight set defeats.
Karolina Pliskova who scrapped her way to Singapore after a underwelming season whilst Eli Svitolina’s season lost momentum after the clay but this was by far her best performance since Rome.
I watched back both matches and I have to say Eli’s performance which I am in the middle of doing a piece about was just faultless. I remember seeing someone say she only hit 4 winners in set one but took it and that’s a credit to the way she conducted herself from the back of the court. I haven’t seen her that locked in for a long while.
Wozniacki on the other hand was simply bad. I can’t remember a performance from her this year that lacked any flair or fight. Credit to Pliskova who made life difficult but she didn’t really have to break a sweat, too much damage was done by the Dane who just lacked any fight which is odd.
