Well, has this ever happened before?
The top four seeds at Singapore have all lost their opening round match.
Wozniacki and Kvitova yesterday in straight sets but today Kerber and Osaka got a set on the board but end with a defeat.
For Kiki Bertens it was a first set to forget as she fell down 6-1 on her debut in Singapore but despite winning 1 game in the first set she turned it around which has been the theme of her season the incredible grit and fight she has shown that pushed her on route to a 1-6 6-3 6-4 win.
Sloane Stephens who of course won New York last year didn’t make Singapore but is a debutant this year like Kiki Bertens and defeated fellow debutant and current US Open winner Naomi Osaka from a set up the American had a slight wobble in the second set but in my preview for Singapore I said never rule Sloane out.
The opening two days have been epic so who knows what will happen on day 3? Wozniacki and Kerber match off in a must win for both.
