Karen Khachanov as of Monday is the second highest under 23 year old in the world at number 11.
So, why isn’t he spoken about in the same breath like Zverev, Shapovalov, De Minaur, Tsitsipas and Tiafoe just to name a few when he has achieved more.
There are even some seasoned pro’s who don’t have a Masters title yet!
46 wins, 22 defeats and 3 titles this year racking up almost $3 million in prize money. A very good year for the Russian who prior to his trip to Paris had three career top 10 wins and now has taken that tally to 7 following his big week.
His year on a whole has been good and under the radar which in all honesty is a good thing. He just gets on with the job in hand and doesn’t get distracted which is a credit to him and he deserves to be shouted about.
This week in Paris was exceptional and with respect to achievements on the tour some of them you look at and think that was a bit of a fluke which may seem harsh but I don’t feel like this with Karen it does feel like the real deal and the next 12 months are going to be intense for him. He will be a top 16 seed in Melbourne which is quite magnificent.
These wins in Paris were no fluke, he went toe to toe with players who have won pretty much everything and that deserves credit.
This year was just the beginning but don’t expect him under the radar anymore.
