Well what a day! My final day at the Australian Open 😦 and it could not have been hotter!
I arrived to site around 1pm in time for the ladies semifinals and following a men’s doubles match from the morning the roof on RLA was shut!
Baring in mind at this time of day it was already 36 degrees outside. To the disappointment of the crowd the roof was opened in time for the match…
It was horrible! I was sat in it and the temperature began to rise and 25 mins into Kvitova / Collins with the tie level at 4-4 the referee announced the roof would be shut with the crowd cheering and the YMCA playing loudly!
The tennis did continue and it ended up being a lovely win for Petra in straight sets against a frustrated Danielle Collins who had a couple of disagreements with Carlos Ramos.
One member of the audience shouted ‘suck it up princess’
Following the match we had a women’s day ceremony with Anna Wintour winning the prize and Nicole Kidman also in attendance
Now time for Pliskova v Osaka…
What a match this was 😮😮😮
Both ladies were exceptional! You could not fault the effort. Pliskova was just relentless in her defence and Osaka played a stunning match!
Naomi said after the match she just wants to sleep ahead of the final on Saturday!
