Why Vika should only look back at her trip to Indian Wells as a positive

It would be easy to think Vika lost so it’s another early exit.

Tennis is a brutal sport. You travel the world, you turn up and you could go home after around 24 hours on site and for Vika her stint at Indian Wells was short but it was one to be proud of.

It has been difficult for Vika and she got down about it in Melbourne following her exit there and that press conference was a tough watch but super inspiring and I just had full admiration for her.

She said;

“Sometimes I need time, patience and a little support”

Respect to her.

I felt after that match against Serena this needed saying because when you’re in a bit of a rut another loss can suck and it can make you feel s**t.

As ever with what I write here is what I believe and is me being honest. I think Vika played so well, probably one of the best performances I have seen from her since her comeback to the tour the issue is Serena played better but both ladies were exceptional!

Going forward it’s now about staying positive.

Miami is next for Vika and then the clay court season where she has virtually no points to defend in Rome, Madrid or Roland Garros and whatever happens over the next month or so on the tour I would love Vika to find some form. Clay has never been her strong point but a few wins on the bounce and maybe a pick-up of a new tournament in there could help her find some form ahead of the grass court season.
