I don’t think there will be a better feel good story all year. Belinda Bencic showed us in Dubai that she is getting back to fitness and form and now in Indian Wells has extended her run of wins to 12 in a row as she now finds herself in the semi-finals.
Wins against Pliskova and Osaka have also extended her win ratio against top 10 ranked players with 6 of her 12 in a row against the top 10.
With this win against Pliskova she will at least finish the week ranked around 20 in the world which is remarkable already at this stage of the season and here is hoping she can go from strength to strength.
Her game right now is solid. She is serving well with variety and moving the ball around the court with ease it seems on the forehand and if you throw in her backhand her net skills she is on top of her game right now.
Something in her game which has impressed and caught the eye this week is her return of serve. Against Pliskova in the first set she won 64% of returns and isn’t afraid to go after it. She did slip and seem a little flustered in set two but pulled it together to advance to the semi-finals.
