The best will be there.
WTA Stuttgart at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix always proves to be one of the highlights of the season in the lead up to Roland Garros.
This is a time to really put down a marker and many players will be looking to kick off their clay court season in style on the indoor courts.
Simona Halep, Naomi Osaka, Petra Kvitova, Karolina Pliskova, Angie Kerber, Elina Svitolina, Kiki Bertens & Sloane Stephens will all be there.
There are also four wildcards in the draw here;
Former Champion who has won the tournament on three occasions in Maria Sharapova is also a wildcard entry but there are question marks over her participation right now.
Another wildcard is Victoria Azarenka and the former finalist I believe may be touch and go for the tournament as she is currently with the Belarus Fed Cup team but there are in Brisbane playing Australia so making that move from Brisbane to Stuttgart on a flight which will take around 26 hours is quite something especially as she will most likely play on Tuesday and leave Brisbane on Sunday evening.
Experienced German Andrea Petkovic has also been awarded a wildcard for the tournament as has a former winner in 2017 champion Laura Siegemund who has had a struggle with injuries of late and of course went on that run as a wildcard two years ago which saw her secure wins against Kuznetsova, Pliskova, Halep and Mladenovic on route to the title.
Notable wildcards in qualifying include former Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki and 14 year old Mina Hodzic who doesn’t have a ranking.
