This is the final year that Roland Garros will not have a roof with one scheduled to be in place for the tournament in 2020 on Phillpe Chatrier but what changes can we expect to see at this years event?
The tournament has been busy. The moment the 208 event was over demolition of the Chatrier Court begun and is about ready for the upcoming second major of the year as well as a new stadium.
There aren’t too many images of Roland Garros’ new main court right now and getting close to the site is tough as I found out in April but here is a picture.
We also have a video as Frenchman Lucas Pouille who has badly struggled for form since making the semi-finals of the Australian Open was the first player to practice on the new court.
There is also another completely new court and that is Court Simonne Mathieu which is a 5000 seater and has a greenhouse running around the outside, odd but interesting!
You can see more on the new court below;
