Winless on clay, has Roland Garros come too early for Eli?

If you could say to Elina Svitolina do you fancy pushing Roland Garros back a week or two she would probably take it.

Following Miami she had a bit of an injury problem with her knee forcing her out of Stuttgart and followed up with early defeats in Madrid and Rome of late ending her 10 match winning streak at the Italian capital.

Eli is one of the tours most skilled clay court players but this knee injury she picked up before Stuttgart has led to know momentum being able to be built and she will go to Roland Garros without a win.

I felt like Eli had a good start to the season, I do still feel in her game there is another level to reach and I felt she was on the right path but I do feel Roland Garros has come too early for her.

I’m a big believer on momentum and right now there is momentum with certain players on the tour have right now and if they were too meet then it would be a win in their favour but at the same time more pressure on them.

If anything this can work into Eli’s hands. I remember watching her at Roland Garros a few years back and I said at the time her game still needs to find something to really hit players and despite four major quarter finals since it just hasn’t happened so maybe coming here with little expectation and pressure might allow her to really let go and go for it.
