For the third time in her career Donna Vekic the 23rd seed is into the second round at Roland Garros.
The Croat came up against the 20 year old from the Czech Republic ranked at 159 in the world and was a late entrant following the withdrawal of Katie Boulter.
Donna set the theme pretty early with a break of serve and didn’t have to worry too much in hindsight about a challenge from the 20 year old who despite creating one break point couldn’t take advantage and also couldn’t bother the serve of the Croat who quickly took a 6-2 lead.
The second set was a bit more of a close affair but an early break was all that Donna needed despite improvement from Ludmilla who began to go for it a bit more like she should have earlier on in the match but just couldn’t pose a big enough threat on the Vekic serve and was left untroubled on route to a 6-2 6-4 win and the numbers back it up;
24/29 first serve points won
14/20 second serve points won
17 unforced errors
