Roland Garros is only a couple of days old and we sadly are without Petra Kvitova who withdrew last minute with injury issues and Caroline Wozniacki left following her first round defeat and is still fighting injury and illness on court.
Petra announced on social media that on Sunday night she had an MRI on her forearm which has caused her some discomfort and pain of late and has a grade two tear.
It is unknown how long she will be out for. Usually these things can be 3-4 weeks and her next scheduled event is WTA Birmingham where she is defending champion.
Caroline Wozniacki impressed in her opening set which she took 6-0 but fitness is still a problem for her.
There were doubts prior to the match when she appeared with her left leg (calf) all bandaged up and this was the same in the match.
The former number one who has also been suffering with arthritis for almost a year and it must be incredibly tough to prepare but she continues to fight.
Next up for the Dane we expect to see her in Eastbourne but wouldn’t be surprised if we also see her elsewhere once she is fit and ready to kick on her season!
