Focus, Grit & Determination; The perfect Stefanos Tsitsipas performance

After almost three hours Stefanos Tsitsipas is through to the third round at Roland Garros.

For 20 years old this man has some focus, grit and determination. He is a joy to watch and his tennis is admirable.

Stefanos enjoyed a good start to the match going up an immediate break of serve by the 6th seed to take a 2-0 lead. Early on in the first set we did have a slight delay due to a pretty nasty looking roll of the ankle with Dellien requiring a mid-game medical time out.

The man from Bolivia seemed to find a new lease of life as he seemed to go for it and pushed the Greek number one behind and took the first set 6-4.

Stefanos’ focus and standards are so high and his response was immaculate. He followed it up with brutal hitting getting that top-spin on the backhand and before you know it we were at a set a piece with Stefanos taking the second 6-0.

Hugo remained competitive but once again you could not fault the effort from Tsitsipas who continued to cover the ground so well and completely deserved the win he got defeated the Bolivian 4-6 6-0 6-3 7-5 to secure his place in the third round at Roland Garros for the first time in his young career.

33/55 net points won
54/76 first serve points won
25/44 second serve points won
42 winners
34 unforced errors

Next up for Stefanos will be either Roberto Carballas Baena or Filip Krajinovic.
