No messing and no-nonsense from Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams or Sascha Zverev today as all three booked their place into round three with straight set wins.
Novak saw off Laaksonen with just eight games dropped, Sascha dropped just four games in the first two sets taking a 6-1 6-3 lead before needing a tie-break to see off Ymer.
After a bit of a shaky start in her round one match Serena Williams had a more straight forward and composed win as she saw off Kurumi Nara 6-3 6-2.
Dominic Thiem had some trouble with the unpredictable Bublik who threw out a few underarm serves and it did look like we were heading to a 5th set with Thiem 1-4 down but clawed it back to seal the match in four sets.
Juan Martin Del Potro was in a similar boat hoping to get his win in four as well being two sets to one up on Nishioka but the Japanese took the fourth set on a tiebreaker but the tower of Tandil stood tall to take the decider 6-2.
The home crowd were treated to two French players in Lucas Pouille and Caroline García today but it didn’t go to plan on Chatrier with both losing matches you’d have expected them to win but Gaël Monfils went through in straight sets once again.
Simona Halep made her way to her 9th win in a row in Paris but had to go to three sets despite looking good for a straight sets win
