Another upset in Paris as Serena Williams is out, but is it a surprise?
The former world number one came up against the infectious and head strong personality of fellow American Sofia Kenin.
Kenin has had some extra time off in preparation for this match following the withdrawal of Bianca Andreescu with this problematic shoulder injury.
The 20 year old has gone from strength to strength since she broke through and she knows what she wants and what she has to do.
She has been really impressive and went about her game so well especially off the forehand.
I did worry for her when Serena got that break back in the second set and the crowd got behind her and Serena saved a match but she executed her game play plan incredibly well!
On Monday she will play Ashleigh Barty for a place in the quarter finals and I really see no reason why she can’t produce another upset!
For Serena going forward? I’ll come onto that in another piece ahead of the grass court season.
