It’s good to see Kevin Anderson back.
The South African isn’t the biggest name on the tour but he’s someone to look up to, especially at 6ft 8in.
He hasn’t played since Miami due to an elbow injury which wasn’t tennis elbow but golfers elbow because of his big serve.
I’ve always liked Kevin. He is a genuine down to earth person who fights for what is right in sport and life.
Lady K is his dog which he and his wife Kelsey adopted from a shelter and continue to do work for them. He is a bit supporter as well for the LGBT community in sport and the battle on single use plastic.
Coming back from injury is tough on anyone but I was super impressed with what Kevin did against Cam Norrie.
Obviously I’m sad to see a British player finish early but to Kevin win that from a set down, first match in 10-11 weeks is impressive.
Bit of a cliche but he served well.
19 aces
2 double faults
93% first serve won
50% second serve won
Really good numbers to come back. I thought he moved well, in the first set there were some Norrie forehands which were difficult to chase but I felt Kevin grew into the match steadily without any panic and got the rewards.
Overall a very good performance. He did only convert 1/10 break points on the Norrie serve but first match back for almost three months it’s a positive sign in itself to win here today, from a set down and also put on a good show!
