When I turned 15 I was preparing for my GCSE’s, Coco Gauff is about to participate in the first round of a Grand Slam for the first tie in her career after coming through Wimbledon qualifying.
Coco has arrived in Roehampton and played incredible tennis defeating the top seed Bolsova in qualifying as well as 16th seed Greet Minnen 6-1 6-1 in her final match of the qualifying draw.
She began the year outside the top 600 in the world and coming into qualifying is at 313 following a career high 299 after an impressive year on the ITF tour and also some WTA event wins coming through qualifying in Charleston and recording two main draw wins as well.
The last 15 year old into the main draw of Wimbledon was Great Britain’s Laura Robson!
Coco trains at the Patrick Mouratoglou academy in France and is a big fan of Serena Williams winning her first junior major at Roland Garros last year.
