Alex De Minaur produces a methodical & clinical display against Marco Cecchinato

20 year old Alex De Minaur from Sydney has orchestrated his way to the second round of Wimbledon following an impressive victory over the Italian Marco Cecchinato.

This one started off with a marathon first game between the two but De Minaur managed to keep hold of his serve saving multiple break points and from there on in was surprised at what followed.

The youngster went for it and was ruthless with his quick play around the whole court sealing the first set 6-0.

During the match the full range of Alex’s game was on show.

The way he moved around the court was excellent. He is one of the best movers on the tour but he was very methodical in the way he did.

He went after the serve of the Italian closing off the angles down the line and following in to the net to seal the point as quickly as possible.

Something that doesn’t spoken about much with Alex is the serve but he stood really strong and used a kick serve really well to give him a good platform to build off as you can see below pushing Marco outside the tramlines.

From 0-6 down Marco did grow into the match but at the same time De Minaur continued to be so impressive on serve without being broken as he won 6-0 6-4 7-6 to advance to the second round.

It wasn’t completely plain sailing for The Australian but at the big moments came up with the answers out on Court 15.
