Andy Murray & Serena Williams to play Mixed Doubles together at Wimbledon

Players have until 11 am Wednesday morning to register themselves for mixed doubles.

It is confirmed that Andy Murray and Serena Williams will play mixed doubles together.

Mixed doubles draw does begin on Thursday but any Serena and Andy match I would be surprised if they aren’t on until the weekend. The final will take place on the second Sunday which will not clash with the women’s singles final.

Andy Murray has only played mixed doubles officially with Laura Robson at the 2012 Olympics where they won silver medal. During his time on the ITPL exhibition he did play mixed doubles with Maria Sharapova as well.

Serena has more experience in mixed doubles.

Her first appearance was 1998 Australian Open but her and Lleyton Hewitt went out in round one.

She first made it to the final of a major in 1998 at Roland Garros where she was partnered with Luis Lobo but lost to Gimelstob and Venus in the final.

That year she changed partners and her and Max Mirnyi won Wimbledon and US Open together but the following year in Melbourne lost to de Swardt and Adams in the final.

The last time Serena played in mixed doubles was the 2012 French Open but her and Mike Bryan didn’t get past the first round losing 10-6 in the third set tie-breaker.
