One of the best sights in tennis is to see David Goffin back in action.
David has more than his fair share of bad luck but always bounces back. Injuries including that horror fall at Roland Garros and that eye injury in Rotterdam after taking a ball to the face which forced him to retire from the semi-final and miss a few weeks of tennis!
The 2017 World Tour Finals runner-up has had it tough over the last couple of years but it is finally good to see him back in the second week of a major where he belongs.
His route to round four has included;
Klahn – 6-4 6-4 6-4
Chardy – 6-2 6-4 6-3
Medvedev – 4-6 6-2 3-6 6-3 7-5
That win against Medvedev from two sets to one down was fantastic to see that fight once again from the Belgian.
Next up for him is Fernando Verdasco on Monday. Fernando has had some big wins and of course came from two sets and a break down against Kyle Edmund who seemed to be suffering with some sort of problem.
Against Verdasco it will be a work-out for the 28 year old back in the fourth round for the third time in his career and looking for his first quarter final spot.
This will be the 7th meeting between Goffin and Verdasco and first since 2017. The head to head is level at 3-3 but have never met on the grass with Goffin winning their last meeting and three of their last four.
Coming into Wimbledon he found some form on the grass with some wins in Rosmalen before a run to the final in Halle where Roger won his 10th but the Belgian saw off Zverev and Berrettini on route to the final.
