Djokovic’ Wimbledon win has seen him climb into first place 500 points ahead of Rafael Nadal but who will be next?

It is a matter of when not if for Roger Federer. The Wimbledon runner-up is just over 1000 points of Rafa but as the tournaments run down will be there sooner rather than later.

Dominic Thiem (4th, 3315 points) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (5th, 2995 points) look like appearing in London in what would be Stefanos’ debut and would take something extraordinary for them not to be there.

Which leaves three places… 6th, 7th and 8th.

Kei Nishikori, Roberto Bautista Agut and Daniil Medvedev currently occupy the three spots but I’d expect that to change. Kei is currently in 6th place over 900 points behind Tsitsipas which I’d be surprised if he makes up.

I’m not sure on Kei, I think it would be quite something to get to the ATP World Tour Finals without a top 10 win this year.

Agut’s Wimbledon run has seen him climb and Medvedev has had a up and down year but is still in contention.

Sascha Zverev who is the defending champion in London risks not being there. It has been a nightmare year for Sascha and is down at number 10 in the race and will have to improve even to qualify.

Felix Auger-Aliassime is down at 11 and I imagine quietly in some office that they will be hoping he doesn’t qualify for London as he qualifies for Next Gen finals in Milan as does Tsitsipas but his place in London is looking very likely.

The Italians could have something to say as well. Fabio Fognini is in 9th and the impressive Matteo Berrettini who got blown away by Roger at Wimbledon is in 12th.

Creeping up is David Goffin now in 15th, his Wimbledon run was fantastic to see and would be incredible if he could get there. Wawrinka and Raonic are just behind with 75 points separating all three.

Borna Coric who missed Wimbledon due to injury said his goal for the year is London, he has a lot of points to make up. Can he? His best of three record this year has been fantastic!
