The epic Wimbledon final has come at a cost (for tournament directors in Montreal) as the top two in men’s Novák Djokovic and Roger Federer have withdrawn from the Rogers Cup.
Four time champion Djokovic who of course won the battle against Federer at Wimbledon has announced he has withdrawn to recover. Federer a two time champion but not since 2006 announced just after Wimbledon he would skip as expected by Montreal.
Adding to the list is of course no Juan Martin Del Potro who is still recovering from his knee problem and I will be surprised to see if the Argentine makes a return this season. Bizarrely as well he is still on the entrants list for the US Open.
One more withdrawal in the main draw would mean that Grigor Dimitrov who fell to his worst career main draw defeat in Atlanta the other day will be back in the main draw.
