Andy and Jamie Murray are back in action with a win!
This was the first time the duo have played together for a couple of years and many more years on the tour.
The first round opponents for the British pair were French pairing of Nicolás Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vaselin. Most of Nicolas’ success in doubles has come with Pierre Hugues Herbert who is focusing more on singles right now but of course didn’t play doubles with his fellow Frenchman at Wimbledon to play with Andy Murray.
That partnership ended in round one but Mahut and Roger-Vaselin made it to the final where they were defeated by Cabal and Farah in that epic doubles final! Mahut and Herbert will team back up ahead of New York as well.
It was the French pairing that broke first but the Brits found their grove to take the first set 6-4.
Even in the tiebreak of the second set Andy and Jamie looked in charge with entertaining rallies all around but the French came from a mini break down to take us to a deciding set tiebreak.
It was close to begin with but then the traffic went against the Brits going 2-5 down but then the momentum swung in favour of Andy and Jamie who edged ahead to progress to the next round winning 10-5 in the third winning eight points in a row.
