All great bands split up. Take That, Spice Girls & ABBA. However they do get back together…
In this case, Darren Cahill will be back on board with Simona Halep in 2020.
It has been a rollercoaster journey which is set to get going again!
Despite not being part of the team this year Darren has been there at Wimbledon and spent time on the practice court with Halep and her coach Daniel Dobre who I expect to stay with her as well.
Things between Darren and Simona have been difficult in the past.
They did get together in 2016 and there was a period where he did take himself away and if anything Halep grew up and have built a great partnership and friendship.
At the end of 2018 it was announced that Darren would be leaving to spend more time with his family and some media commitments but has been in and around the Halep team at stages during the season.
The growth of their friendship and partnership has reaped rewards over the years with that French Open title and installing that belief and mental strength in the Romanian.
After Roland Garros Halep did head back to Romania for a sports festival where she played tennis with Darren and seemed relaxed ahead of her Wimbledon win.
It’s going to be an interesting season where Simona Halep will begin 2020 at the inaugural Adelaide International which is replacing WTA Sydney as Sydney is now being used as a home for ATP Cup.
