The coaching carousel of tennis is in full swing. As players finish their season, go on holiday and prepare for 2020 they continue to make changes to their respective teams.
Muguruza & Conchita
We saw this coming when Conchita Martinez and Karolina Pliskova recently split. Having Conchita back will be good news for the Spaniard.
They have worked together before and last time Muguruza won Wimbledon. Muguruza is too good of a player to have another season in the shadows.
Pliskova & Vallverdu & Savchuk
Quite the surprise. Pliskova has completely changed her team for 2020 as she hunts Grand Slam success.
Olga Savchuk was with her in Zhengzhou earlier this year on a trial when she won the title there and has also added Dani Vallerdi!
Dani is a former coach of Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Grigor Dimitrov and Tomas Berdych. This is the first time Dani has coached a female player on the tour.
Nishikori & Miryni
Just over 12 months ago Max Miryni who was a five times doubles major champion returned from tennis.
The Belarusian who won Olympic Gold with Victoria Azarenka in 2012 in London will now join Kei Nishikori’s coaching team for the upcoming season.
The two have known each other a while and in the past have trained at the IMG Academy together.
Khachanov & Frederick Rosengren
Khachanov needs to find a bit more for 2020. He had a good season but not as good as 2018.
He has hired Frederick Rosengren who until recently was the long term coach of Britain’s Kyle Edmund who split around September/October this year.
Halep & Dobre
This was the question we wondered about…
Will Halep and Dobre still work together following Darren Cahill’s return?
No is the answer. Halep has announced that have ended their year together and has thanked Daniel Dobre for helping her win Wimbledon.
Yastremska & Bajin
Sascha Bajin has worked with a lot of players lately. The former coaching of Vika and Osaka decided to split from Kristina Mladenovic not long ago.
The Ukraine number two who has risen up the rankings in 2019 has hired Sascha as part of her coaching team.
Kerber & Kindlmann
Angie Kerber is looking once again for her best tennis.
She does usually find it in even numbered years but has hired Dieter Kindlmann as she searches for her best tennis once again.
Kindlmann has worked with Sharapova, Pavlyuchenkova, Keys, Robson and more recently Elise Mertens on the WTA tour.
Strycova & Kotoyza
A split from Strycova!
Barbora has recently announced she is coming to the end of her career with many expect 2020 to be her final year on the tour.
Barbora made the decision to end her partnership with David Kotoyza so that someone younger can benefit from more time of his expertise!
