Simona Halep’s coaching team for 2020 has had another name added to the hat.
Just a couple of months ago it was announced that Darren Cahill was rejoining the team for the 2020 season. Darren took a break at the end of 2018 to spend more time with his family and media commitments but was around Halep’s team at the majors.
As preparations for the 2020 season begin the duo are back in action on the practice court but with a couple of changes.
Daniel Dobre who came back into the team earlier into the year has left as it was announced on Twitter the pairing had come to an end. Simona thanked Daniel for helping her win her second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.
Daniel and Simona had worked together previously during the Romanian’s career.
Just the other day it was announced that another new face has joined the team.
Her new addition to the team is Romanian as well. Artemon Apostu-Efremov (Arti) has coached quite a few players over the last eight years including fellow Romanian Mihaela Buzarnescu.
Simona Halep is the only top 20 player at the moment who is not signed up to play a warm-up event before the Australian Open. With entrant lists for Sydney, Auckland and the new Adelaide International released the Wimbledon champion is not on any.
It is rumoured that Halep could be given a wildcard for Adelaide at the beginning of the year.
