Rumours are circulating that Victoria Azarenka could be the latest WTA star to announce plans to retire.
Caroline Wozniacki will call it a day following the Australian Open, Carla Suarez Navarro will at the end of the season and Dominika Cibulkova has already called time.
There has been nothing official but with the 2020 season around the corner all is very quiet.
Towards the end of the season before the WTA Finals there was an announcement that the Vika and Barty doubles partnership had come to an end. The duo made the US Open final this year and won in Rome.
It is also rumoured that Vika doesn’t have a coach at the moment as well.
With tournaments pretty much around the corner and entrance lists out, Vika isn’t down to play anywhere.
Despite being ranked at 50 in the world she wouldn’t have a problem entering onto the main draw of tournaments during the first couple of weeks.
During the first week of the season we have Brisbane, Shenzhen & Auckland and in the second week Hobart and the new Adelaide event where she isn’t entered.
A wildcard could be an option but it would be extremely unusual for a player who has a ranking to enter to not enter.
The bigger news is that she is not down to play in Melbourne either. The cut off is predicted around 100 in the world with five players using a protected ranking to enter the event.
Vika is ranked 50 but has not entered the Australian Open which adds to the question, what is going on?
