Kei Nishikori is out of the ATP Cup and Australian Open.
The former US Open finalist was due to play in Hawaii the other day but didn’t and the decision has been made that he will not feature in January.
Kei in a message said it was discussed with his team and a decision was made as he is not 100% healthy and able to play at the highest level.
Just a couple of months ago the Japanese number one who turned 30 even more recently had surgery on his elbow following a build up of swelling and fluid.
When the points from 2019 Australian Open do drop off, Kei is likely to find himself outside the top 20 in the world where he hasn’t been since August 2018.
