Bianca Andreescu’s knee injury is forcing her out of the Australian Open. The teenager who won in New York at the back end of last season was one of the casualties at the WTA Finals in Shenzhen on the incredibly slow courts there.
Despite picking up soo many titles and wins last year a big chunk of the year with a shoulder injury but hopefully she will be back on the court soon.
In a statement on Twitter the Canadian had this to say:
Hey guys, just wanted to give you a little update on my knee rehab after I got injured at the WTA finals in Shenzhen. My rehab is going well, I feel better and stronger every day but after discussing it with my team and following the recommendation of the doctors, the Australian Open is unfortunately too soon in my rehab process and I sadly will not be able to play in it this year. It was a very tough decision to make as I love to play in Melbourne but I have to respect the recuperation plan for my knee and body. I can’t wait to come back to Aus soon x
At this stage we don’t know how long until Bianca will be back. It did sound like it would be sooner rather than later but I hope we see her back in Indian Wells and hopefully before then!
