The Argentine’s comeback is on an unknown delay.
At Queens Club last year the former US Open champion sustained a knee injury forcing surgery on his MCL.
All signs looked good as he was planning on returning in Stockholm and Vienna towards the end of last season which seemed earlier than expected but setback after setback saw him delay his comeback.
He never played any events following that, Davis Cup or ATP Cup.
Until early hours all looked quiet on the news front but it has been announced he isn’t ready yet for the comeback to tennis.
It will be interesting to see where he does go from here. We know the injury issues he has had and this knee was a problem before he injured it at Queens Club.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Indian Wells and Miami would be his next targets and with the seriousness of this knee injury I’d be surprised his comeback was further delayed whether he would entertain clay early on.
