Same again? Is Naomi Osaka the favourite down in Melbourne Park?

I can’t really see past Naomi Osaka doing it again in Melbourne.

She has began her year with that fight and sharpness she had going into Shenzhen before her injury.

Almost twelve months two I was watching the Australian Open final with my aunt and uncle in Melbourne on TV. Prior to that I saw Naomi on route to the final and she is just a breath air on the tour.

In interviews she is open, honest and humble and when it comes to tennis she is ruthless. I like how open she is when talking as some don’t share and I think that is what has made her so popular and universally liked is she’s always got time for people and to talk.

I hope she wins in Melbourne again.

I was lucky to meet Naomi in Birmingham last year and she took time to speak to fans and take photos with everyone.

Naomi ended her year with a withdrawal from Shenzhen due to injury but did finish her season on an eleven match winning streak and began with some impressive wins against some tough opponents.

Victories against Sakkari, Kenin and Bertens saw the 22 year old book her place in the quarter finals down in Brisbane.

I like where her game is at right now. She has had a lot of changes in her team over the last twelve months or so but has found happiness and she speaks a lot about figuring it out on the court and not getting down on herself.

There is a lot that could happen from here until Melbourne but on early form and the way she has carried her performances on from last season is a good sign!
