Tennis comes together at Melbourne Park to raise money for Bush Fire Relief!

Nick Kyrgios got the ball rolling and the best in tennis came to help.

Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Petra Kvitova, Coco Gauff, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Naomi Osaka, Alex Zverev and Nick Kyrgios himself took part in Rally4Relief on Rod Laver Arena.

Tennis has come together as it does in a crisis to help those who need it and in Australia right now where majority of players spend their January year in year out have given back to the country to help people rebuild their lives and community.

Over the course of the night including money for aces donated they finished with $4,826,014 but the donations don’t stop there.

Tennis is being played across Australia and players are doing their bit to help.

Many have taken part in the donation per ace hit during the Australian summer, some who don’t hit as many aces like Belinda Bencic are donating for double faults hit.

Simona Halep is donating $200 every time she has a moan at her coach Darren Cahill and ended up writing a cheque for $2000 during her first round match in Adelaide.

Serena Williams and Ash Barty have donated their entire prize money from Auckland and Brisbane respectively and Serena has also signed and is auctioning off all of her outfits from her title winning week.

The donations aren’t done yet, with the summer of tennis finale around the corner as play at Melbourne Park is underway in qualifying but as of next Monday the first major of the year begins with more money to be raised.

Money will be donated from now until the end of the Australian Open from aces still hit from organisations and players.

The event at Melbourne Park was a fantastic coming together of the best in the sport but also to thank those who have put themselves out there and helped others.

A fantastic story of the night from a lady called Deb in the crowd. She plays tennis on a Saturday afternoon every week and volunteered to go and help tackle fires. She was asked who her favourite tennis player was and ended up playing a game with Rafa!

There is soo much we can do as well! Why not hit your own ace and donate and raise awareness on social media to keep the conversation going!

I was in Australia last year and it was a special time for me out there so giving back was an easy option and I cannot wait to go back!
