Kyle Edmund wins his second ATP title in New York!

A week ago the big hitters in mens tennis turned up in New York. Isner, Raonic, Karolovic, Anderson and Opelka lead the line but one by one the seeds went home.

Miomir Kecmanovic and Kyle Edmund were the only two seeds left and following Kyle’s impressive win over the young Serb it put the eighth seed in position to win his second ATP title.

Standing in his way was Andreas Seppi.

The Italian is just so difficult to play against as we have seen in the past, the way he just digs in on the baseline and makes life difficult has been a problem for some of the best in tennis.

This, however wasn’t the case for Kyle Edmund. On the Brit’s Dad’s birthday he won an important second career title with a 7-5 6-1 win over the Italian veteran which has seen him back inside the worlds top 50.

Kyle’s 2019 season was one to forget. He was in at the Australian Open, took some time off injured before winning the Indian Wells challenger and from there the season just didn’t kick on.

Form and confidence we lacking for the Brit who after Wimbledon struggled for results going on an eight match losing streak before putting on some solid performances against Berankis and Schwartzmann in the Paris Masters to end his season.

This week was a big one for Kyle in terms of his season. A bad year is tough but it has to be moved on from and if anything gives you more confidence going into events knowing you have no points to defend and is pretty much a free hit.

This will go well in his bid as well to play at the Olympics this summer in Tokyo where you must be top 52.
