Roger Federer has today confirmed he will be out until the grass court season following knee surgery he underwent in Switzerland.
Just a week or so ago it was confirmed that the 38 year old would be playing at Roland Garros but those plans have been put to bed and will miss tournament in:
Having been champion in Dubai and Miami, finalist in Indian Wells and quarter finalist at Roland Garros the former world number one will drop 3180 points before he plans to return to Halle in mid-June to defend his title there.
Even without players picking up points during this time Federer will drop to around No.8 in the world and will take some work to get back towards the top of mens tennis.
Federer in a statement on Twitter said his knee had been bothering him for a while and decided to undergo an arthroscopic procedure following examinations and discussions with his team.
