Juan Martin Del Potro is one of the most loved players in tennis but also one of the most unluckiest.
After tearing his patella in Shanghai in 2018 the Argentine underwent surgery on his right knee. After a lot of time off Del Potro made his return to Delray Beach but then had another break before he return to a good clay court season including that epic against Djokovic.
Sadly for the second time in 8 months at Queens Club he slipped against Shapovalov and tore his patella in his knee once again went under surgery.
We didn’t see Del Potro again in 2019 and not in 2020 before tennis was suspended but it will be some time until we see the Argentine again who has had surgery once again.
His team posted a message on Twitter which says:
“In recent months, Delpo followed his doctors’ advice and even tested the knee on a tennis court in Buenos Aires, but the pain persisted. After their first meeting in Bern, Biedert recommended a new surgery.”
His early career he was plagued by wrist injuries after winning the US Open in 2009 and went onto have five surgeries in as many years missing pretty much the whole of 2010, 2014 and 2015.
I as does everyone hope that this third surgery on the right knee of Del Potro is successful and his rehab is successful and hope to see him back on a tennis court in 2021.
