Thousands of miles from New York but Victoria Azarenka has brought her phenomenal form to Rome seeing off Sofia Kenin 6-0 6-0

There haven’t been many better sights in tennis over the last few weeks that the quite incredible level of Victoria Azarenka.

The Belarusian was exceptional in New York and despite a 4,279 mile trip to Rome from New York she has continued her exceptional form with wins over Venus Williams and Sofia Kenin.

Not many players are playing better tennis than Vika and despite not leaving New York till Sunday she has continued to go from strength to strength. Watching her dictate rallies like this has been like rolling back the years and to see her move the ball to the corners and make it look effortlessly brilliant has been a joy to watch.

In the first set against Sofia she hardly point a foot wrong hitting one unforced error in a set over in 22 minutes as Vika bageled the Aussie Open champion.

The lead was extended for Vika after Kenin went off court to seven in a row but then Kenin showed her biggest of the match so far but was struggling to hold onto her serve. We saw slice, less pace and a drop shot but nothing was working for the American who was broken and slipped 0-2 down.

Bad to worse is the phrase and unfortunately for the American that was theme falling 0-4 and then 0-5 down without much of a chance. The variety and press from Azarenka was out of this world.

It is a mixture of impressive from Vika and worrying for Kenin to lose a match by this magnitude but it has been reflected on quickly and learnt from. On clay you will be tested and these defeats can hurt but must be learnt from.

0-6 0-6 and finished with a double fault, Sofia Kenin will head to Paris with work to do.
