When it was announced last November Jamie and Bruno were getting back together there would be no better place for them to begin than down under.
Their first title together was in January 2016 in Sydney and their second was their first in Melbourne winning the Australian Open a couple of weeks later.
Another Grand Slam title followed later in the year down at Flushing Meadows and they finished on the full circle winning their last title together before splitting in January 2019 back in Sydney.
This time on the reunion it was at the Great Ocean Road Open at Melbourne Park as they picked up their eleventh title together.
It was fantastic to see throughout the week the two settle back into that rhythm finishing the week with wins over the third seeds Dodig and Polasek and the top seeds Cabal and Farah.
I think it is even more impressive that having only gotten back together in November and practice time was limited to be at this level together and beat the top seeds 6-3 7-6 for their first title in their first event since reuniting.
Going into the Australian Open it is perfect preparation for the returning partnership and culminating in a big win over Cabal and Farah and the Brazilian/Brit’s seventh win over the number one pairing.
