Dominic Thiem see’s off Andy Murray in a competitive fourth meeting with both taking plenty of positives away!

Andy Murray will be heading off to Shanghai with plenty of positives. I said on Twitter after the first set you would naturally look at a scoreline of 6-2 and immediately use the phrase one way traffic but it was anything but that. Andy gave the Austrian plenty to think about in a 6-2 set spanning 51 minutes. The other day I saw a set get to … Continue reading Dominic Thiem see’s off Andy Murray in a competitive fourth meeting with both taking plenty of positives away!

Murray 7-6 6-7 6-1 Norrie; Murray up’s the ante following a close two sets!

Andy Murray is safely through to the next round in Beijing. The Brit who began this week at 501 in the world is up to provisional 286 following impressive wins over Matteo Berrettini and Cam Norrie. It looked like being a case of Deja vu having come through against Berrettini 7-6 7-6 and leading Cam Norrie on Wednesday by 7-6 and at 6-6 would go to another tie-breaker. A couple of errors from Murray gave Norrie the initiative who took a 3-0, 4-2 and then 6-4 lead before going on to take us to a third and final set. We … Continue reading Murray 7-6 6-7 6-1 Norrie; Murray up’s the ante following a close two sets!

Matteo is currently ranked at No.13 in the world following a very good season and is in contention for a debut at the World Tour Finals. Andy set out his stall quite early on and it was a very good performance against the Italian which has highlighted a slight issue in his game. Big points are where the matches are won and lost and when things did get a little tense we saw Murray go … Continue reading China Open – Andy Murray 7-6 7-6 Matteo Berrettini
