Following last night’s match I did a piece this morning looking at the performance of Novak Djokovic in his 6-4 6-4 win against Roger Federer but now a look at Federer’s performance which has raised a lot of questions and placed doubts with Flushing Meadows around the corner. The performance on a whole was shaky and nervous which are words you don’t really associate with Roger. He seemed rushed early on and in a panic. From the beginning of the match Federer saw it would be a challenge to shift Novak off the baseline and knew if he were going … Continue reading Roger Federer 4-6 4-6 Novak Djokovic – Panic, poor net play and that 7th game in the second set…
Novak Djokovic’ performance against Roger Federer was near on perfect. Throughout the week in Cincinnati Novak’s performances were a little bit shaky but this one against Roger was something else, it had it all and he has sent out a massive statement ahead of the US Open. The first part of his game I want to look at is returning serve. Federer has one of the best serves in the game and if Novak could get a deep return on it then he slowed down the Swiss number one and he did precisely that. Most of the time Federer is … Continue reading Djokovic 6-4 6-4 Federer – Athleticism, Deep returning and sticking to the baseline!
Novak Djokovic has finally won in Cincinnati. THe saying goes if at first you don’t succeed try and try again and at the sixth time of asking the former world number one is champion in Cincinnati. The win against Federer also meant he is the first player to ever win all Masters 1000 events which is a fantastic record as he sealed his 31st Masters 1000 title just two behind Nadal who leads the tally with 33. The performance is something I will go in more depth about tomorrow looking at Djokovic’ pure brilliance but also will explore Federer’s performance … Continue reading Mastered! We have … Continue reading Kiki’s day in Cincinnati 🤩
Performances don’t get much better than what Juan Martin Del Potro did against Hyeon Chung in Cincinnati. We praise performances on a basis mostly on aesthetically pleasing tennis but when a play completely nullifies a players weapons it should be met with as high praise. Del Potro can sometimes put on these performances without breaking a sweat and knowing the possibility of two matches in 8 hours he had to be clever. Hyeon’s game is big, he goes for the forehand a lot. He likes to wind it up and strike for the corners of the court but how to … Continue reading No pace, no rhythm and nothing to work with! The perfect performance from Del Potro
Novak Djokovic has safely navigated his way through to the next round in Cincinnati as he looks to become the first player to complete the Masters Slam but the most important thing will be form going into New York. Djokovic suffered early on in the match and that was majority thanks to what Mannarino was doing. The forehand of Mannarino was so open and could just stroke the ball and Novak did not adapt well and find the forehand in set one. Day of Cincinnati was one to remember. The best took part as they battled, cruised and fell short as preparations for New York come to a close but what were the stories? Murray out Andy Murray who decided against playing in Toronto following his marathon in Washington came to Cincinnati a week early to train but against Lucas Pouille in round one the Brit fell short to the Frenchman who has struggled for form this year but put on probably his best performance of the year winning 6-1 1-6 6-4 against the Brit. There were rumours that Andy could take … Continue reading Cincinnati Day 1 – Murray out 👎🏻 Novak & Stan battle 🥊 Keys & Vika fight back 💪🏻 Denis wins NextGen meeting ⭐️ and Serena cruises! 😎
